About

Communiqis was founded by Lisa Rankin, an engagement specialist with over a decade of experience in the water sector.

Lisa started Communiqis after seeing a real need for engagement consultancies that truly understand the complexities of the water sector. Water management frameworks are intricate, and meaningful stakeholder conversations can only happen when there’s a deep understanding of how the system works.

Lisa has led engagement processes for several major water sector initiatives including the Victorian Waterway Management Strategy, the Victorian Murray Floodplain Restoration Project, the My Victorian Waterway social research project, the Barwon Ministerial Advisory Committee and the Recognising Recreational Values program at the Department of Energy, Environment, and Climate Action. She has also contributed as a subject matter expert to key policy processes such as Water is Life: Traditional Owner Access to Water Roadmap and the Central and Gippsland Region Sustainable Water Strategy. With a strong grasp of the legislation, regulations, and policies that shape water and waterway management, Lisa brings both technical insight and engagement expertise to every project.

Through this work, Lisa has engaged with a diverse range of stakeholders across Victoria including government agencies, Traditional Owners, landholders, interest groups, peak bodies and community members. A natural consensus-builder, she is skilled at fostering respectful relationships and navigating competing interests to uncover what really matters to people—then working with project teams to find practical solutions.

Lisa believes that effective engagement starts with clear objectives, choosing the right approach to match those objectives and being transparent about ‘what’s on the table’ when discussing options with stakeholders. She brings a warm, diplomatic and professional working style to every project.
